My work focuses on the ways that discourses of race and identity are negotiated, mediated and socialized in education. My research seeks to re-centre the voices of racialized and Indigenous children, families and educators, by problematizing whiteness and white privilege in curriculum, pedagogy, teacher education, and teacher hiring and promotion. My scholarship aims to explore how knowledge can be mobilized at the grassroots level from minoritized educators, children and communities. I am particularly interested in teacher hiring policies and practices in relation to diversity in the teacher workforce in Ontario through an antiracism approach. My teaching experience spans all facets of education from the early years, K-12 education and higher education.
