Research Focus

Dr. SS Gill is working as Associate Professor of Agriculture Biotechnology at Centre for Biotechnology, Maharshi Dayanand University. Dr. Gill in collaboration with Dr. Narendra Tuteja group at International Centre for Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology (ICGEB) conferred the novel function of helicases/MCM/EPSPS/EF-hand like proteins in abiotic stress tolerance in tobacco, rice and mustard. He has published >100 papers in the journals of international repute with over > 19710 citations, h-index – 48 and i10 index 104, edited >35 books and has been serving as an editorial board member in the journals of International repute (3Biotech, Plant Science, Plant Physiology & Biochemistry, Genes, Biomolecules etc). Dr. Gill has been conferred with DST-Young Scientist Award-2013, NESA Young Scientist Award – 2015, 2017-Research Excellence & Citation Award from Clarivate Analytics (Web of Science), felicitated by Governor Chancelor Shri Bangaru Dattatreya and Prof. Rajbir Singh, Vice Chancellor on Teachers Day for Teaching and Committed Research-2021. Dr. Gill has also been awarded with MDU Best Researcher Award-2022 by Governor Chancelor Shri Bangaru Dattatreya and Prof. Rajbir Singh. Dr. Gill has also featured consecutively in the “World Ranking of Top 2% Scientists” prepared by Stanford University, USA and Elsevier in 2021 & 2022.
