Research Focus

Dr Ajishnu Roy is an affiliated fellow (post-doctoral level) with the School of Geographical Sciences & Remote Sensing, Guangzhou University. He is presently working on the regional Safe and Just Operating Space for Chinese poverty-stricken areas. His research interests lie in the broad discourse of Ecological economics. His work encompasses Sustainable development goals, WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene), Carbon footprint, Land required for food (LRF), Agricultural Sustainability, Water footprint, Material footprint, Ecological footprint, Planetary boundaries, Doughnut economics, Globalization, Human development index, Fair share of the environment, Electronic waste, Sustainable material development, Great Acceleration etc. He has received the Young Scientist Award from the University of Burdwan, West Bengal, India. He has presented his various works in 9 international and 7 national level seminars & conferences. He got his formal education from the University of Calcutta (BSc – Zoology), Visva-Bharati University (MSc – Zoology), PhD (Presidency University, Kolkata). Previous he was involved in research work on the behavioural ecology of Scyphozoan jellyfish in the Zoological Survey of India, Andaman & Nicobar Regional Centre (ZSI-ANRC), Port Blair, India. From 2019, he has published 7 publications in international journals and books involving UN SDGs.
