Research Focus

I am an Africanist scholar and a conflict transformation and peacebuilding specialist. My research interests focus broadly on African conflict dynamics and management; post-conflict reconstruction, and development; women and peacebuilding; African politics, including gender and the politics of representation as well as the politics and crisis of human migration. I am committed to the ideals of non-violence and am a promoter of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 on Women, Peace, and Security; Sustainable Development Goals—the Agenda 2030, and African Union’s Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want. I believe in a peaceful and gender-equal society and that underpinning a non-violent society is the critical role of women and a proactive international response mechanism in conflict prevention, management, and resolution.
